  • Is the room private?
Your room is completely private, so most people choose to float in the nude. Our float rooms are equipped with their own shower for your exclusive use.
  • Will I get dehydrated?
Surprisingly, your skin doesn’t even prune up due to the high levels of Epsom Salts in the water. You do absorb a lot of Magnesium from the Epsom Salt.
  • What if I fall asleep?
Your body acts like an iceberg, the majority of you is under the water, so you won’t feel the need to turn over. It’s perfectly safe to fall asleep - in fact, we recommend it!
  • Can I float with a new tattoo?
You want to ensure it’s been at least 30 days (or your tattoo has fully healed) before floating, as the saltwater can cause painful burning.
  • What should I wear?
If you are comfortable being nude, this is what we recommend. However, any comfortable bathing suit or shorts will do.
  • How long can I float?
Some of our clients do not want to leave our pods! A standard float session usually lasts for 60 minutes. However, more experienced floaters book multiple sessions that can last anywhere from 2 to 4 hours. We also have night floating options for advanced floaters – please enquire at reception about this.
  • Is there anything I can do to prepare?
Please try to avoid caffeinated drinks for several hours beforehand as it can interfere with your relaxation ability. For men, avoid shaving 6 hours before floating and for women, allow at least 12 hours, since the Epsom Salt solution can irritate and sting your skin. Eating a light meal about an hour to an hour and a half before your float should alleviate any hunger pains.
  • Can I float if I am menstruating?
Of course. Just follow the same process you would for swimming.
  • Can more than one person float at a time?
Only one person, per pod, at a time. We have three float pods in separate rooms, so up to 3 people can float simultaneously.
  • What if I am Claustrophobic?
You have complete control of your environment. You can leave the light on or get out at any time. You can start by leaving the float tank door slightly open until you feel settled and relaxed. Being in the tanks is more like floating in outer space than being shut in a box. You’re always in control of your environment, and even people with extreme claustrophobia have reported having no problems with their time in the tank. You can call reception using the safety button if you require any assistance while in the tank.
  • Can I float if I have recently dyed my hair or have a spray tan?
Unfortunately not. The spray tan or hair dye can contaminate the water and damage the float tanks. If no residual dye washes out or transfers on a towel when drying (usually within a few days to weeks, depending on the treatment), then you should be fine. Please leave a minimum of 48 hours after a spray tan before floating.
  • How will I feel afterwards?
Everyone has a unique float experience. Most feel relaxed - similar to having an excellent massage. Be gentle and give yourself time after your float. We have a lounge where we can offer you some water or tea, but we understand if you want to enjoy the quiet and absorb the experience.
  • Will I get cold?
Every body is very different and can react differently to temperature. We recommend floating at skin temperature 35.5 degrees; this is the most researched and recognised as the perfect temperature for floating.
  • Can I float if I am pregnant?
Yes, though you should always consult with your doctor first. It is considered that pregnant women probably get more relief from the float tank than anyone else. Many unique benefits help relieve the body’s pressure and tensions during pregnancy and provide a deeper connection to your child.
  • What is Epsom Salt?
Epsom Salts are naturally occurring pure mineral compounds of Magnesium and sulphate. Magnesium plays an essential role in regulating over 325 enzymes, reducing inflammation and muscle tension. Sulphates enhance the absorption of nutrients, flush toxins and ease migraine headaches.
  • Is there anyone who should avoid floating?
We do not recommend floating for those suffering from Epilepsy, Heart Conditions and Ear Infections. You will be required to complete a questionnaire before your session to determine if floating is safe for you. We do recommend that you consult your GP should you have any doubts.
  • How many times should I float?
Many of our clients experience significant benefits on their first float. Like yoga, meditation, exercising and any form of active wellness, floating is also a practice; the more you float, the more you will enjoy its cumulative benefits.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
We have a 24-hour cancellation process. If you have booked an appointment with us and need to reschedule, please let us know at least 24 hours before your scheduled time to avoid losing your float credit. Missed appointments are non-refundable. A refund may be offered to the purchaser within 30 days of purchasing a float session/s assuming that the session/s has not been used. We are open to your feedback and ensure you have the best experience with us. Please reach out to us at info@floatone.co.uk to discuss any issues or concerns.
  • How clean are the tanks?
Our tanks are amongst the most sanitary systems available and are often described as the ‘Rolls Royce of float pods.’ The high concentration saltwater solution is fully drained and filtered between EVERY float. A powerful pump and advanced filtration technology allow our Obit pods to effectively filter to one micron, which is 100 times smaller than a human hair. Also, the Epsom Salts are a natural disinfectant and create a hostile environment for bacteria, so it’s next to impossible for bacteria to live in the Orbits solution.
  • Do I need to bring anything?
During COVID, we ask you to bring your own towel along if you can. If you forget - no problem. Otherwise, we provide everything you'll need.
